An individual who contaminated sweets with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males who were nine and 10.

The accused was detained after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on recently.

However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.

The defendant was remanded in custody prior to a further hearing on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.

She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.

The man conducted a "sweet game" with the children, the legal counsel stated, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were settling down and request they to consume candy "rapidly".

She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She stated the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had suspicions in recently.

The legal representative added: "This year his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.

"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."

The prosecutor stated objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson contacted the police about his concerns.

She said the defendant went on to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she added.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, had stated that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.

The legal representative explained the children were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member notified the authorities once more.

She stated the man then played the "treat game" in a room of five children.
